The present church is not old; having been completely rebuilt in 1865/6 on the site of an earlier stone church and incorporating some old wall fragments. The north aisle was added to the original floor plan.
The effigy is a medieval carving of a parish priest of around 1300. It is possibly an early Rector of Street with Walton. It was allegedly discovered when the tower was being resited in 1830. The coffin lid effigy of Doulting stone, although worn, can be seen to be a priest at prayer and robed for celebrating Mass.
Approximate Age of Artefact: 1300
