The villages of Earlsferry and Elie are conjoined along the Firth of Forth coast in the Kingdom of Fife in eastern Scotland. The town hall on Earlsferry High Street was built in 1772 and lasted for a hundred years until being replaced by a new building opened in March 1873. The only part of the old building which was retained was the clock tower and steeple which is attached to the south-west part of the building.
The steeple's slated spire is topped by a ship of the kind in use in the 18th century when Earlsferry was used as a port, now long closed, with neighbouring Elie still in use as a harbour.
The town hall was closed in 1975 when the new North-East Fife District Council came into being, but it is retained for community use.
