A 6-circuit medieval labyrinth made of crush red granite with red brick edges is found under the trees next to the historic Utopia UMC sanctuary building. Looking at the church from the parking lot, the labyrinth is on the right side of the church.

The medieval styled labyrinth was created as an Eagle Scout Project in 2009 and has been used by the church since then. There is a professionally made sign at the entrance to the labyrinth that gives wise advice about walking this ... or any ... labyrinth. The sign reads as follows:
"The labyrinth is an ancient tool for prayer, meditation & healing. There is only one way in and one way out. Your journey will allow you to 'go within' and drop from your thinking mind down into your heart. Your walk into the labyrinth is a way to 'let go'. Upon your arrival in the center, allow divine illumination to fill your being. Carry this divine light out into the world as you return from the center.

The pathway is level and comfortably wide. The oak trees around the edges of the labyrinth provide shade and dappled lighting during the daytime. At the center, there is a bench that is cleverly designed to provide a back rest if configured such; or, it can be rearranged to refold into a small picnic table, perhaps useful for having communion in the center circle or a place to put your bible while reading scripture or meditating.
While there at the labyrinth, I met the pastor of the Utopia UMC. He commented that the church had made plans to refresh and improve this labyrinth and it would be rejuvenated by the end of 2023.
