In the middle of Rome is the city's and perhaps the world's most popular fountain, the Trevi Fountain. The fountain was begun in 1732 by Nicola Salvi, possibly inspired by Bernini's old drawing of a similar project, and completed in 1751 by Nicola Pannini. The fountain forms the short side of the Palazzo Poli and appears in symbiosis with it. The Trevi Fountain gets its water from the Acqua Vergine aqueduct built by Agrippa in 19 AD - and restored in 1453 at a place where three roads (tre vie) meet.
