Puerta de doble hoja, con aperturas más pequeñas para facilitar su uso, la puerta esta contrachapada con una lámina de cobre cosida mediante clavos a la madera y tiene un grabado en el centre con un cáliz y la hostia consagrada.
"La Iglesia de San Joan Baptista en Benicolet, provincia de Valencia, está situada cerca de Plaza de la Iglesiay de la plaza del Ayuntamiento.
Del siglo XVI, consta de una única nave con dos capillas entre los contrafuertes. Destaca la decoración clásica de los pilares y el campanario de dos cuerpos de planta cuadrada.
Desde el siglo XVIII la Iglesia de Benicolet contaba con una espadaña ubicada sobre la fachada princial y de una sola ventana. Las obras se iniciaron en 1760 por el obrero Vicente García, Ésta presidió el templo hasta finales del siglo XIX. Parece que no tenía más acceso que el propio tejado del templo, por lo que los campaneros debían pisar por ésta y como consecuencia se rompían varias tejas. Para evitar las continuas obras en tejas y el peligro de subir hasta la espadaña en 1845 el vicario Emilio Carbonero juntó a los cabezas de familia del pueblo para acordar la construcción de una torre campanario a los pies del templo.
Este proyecto iba adelante e incluso se acordó el pago del metro de obras y la compra de ladrillo y cal. Parte de la obra se pagaría con el arrendamiento de montes por la explotación forestal a forasteros, comprometiéndose los vecinos a aportar caballerías y animales para el transporte de materiales y otros a participar directamente como obreros.
La falta de financiación impidió la materialización del campanario y el propio Vicario promovió de nuevo a finales del siglo XIX las obras. Esta vez si se iniciaron, el día 25 de mayo de 1899 y las dieron por terminadas el 28 de julio de 1900. La construcción finalizó con la colocación de dos campanas con que contaba la parroquia, todavía conservadas, y la fundición otras dos nuevas.
Éstas fueron sufragadas por el teniente de caballería, Salvador Prats, ya que su familia era natural de Benicolet. Éstas fueron bautizadas el 23 de septiembre de 1900 con el nombre de los benefactores: Salvador y Narcisa".
San Juan Bautista es de los poquitos santos que tienen dos fiestas o celebraciones durante el año litúrgico. En muchos pueblos de cultura y lengua catalanas se celebra esta festividad. San Juan Bautista es su patrón.

San Juan Bautista is one of the few saints who have two parties or celebrations during the liturgical year. In many towns of Catalan culture and language, this festivity is celebrated. Saint John the Baptist is its patron.
