HMCS Iroquois (DDG 280) was one of 4 Canadian-built destroyers that served the Royal Canadian Navy between 1974 and 2017.
Originally listed as Tribal Class, the Iroquois and her sister ships Huron, Athabaskan and Algonquin were renamed Iroquois Class, using the first ship to have her keel laid, and to avoid confusion with earlier Tribal Class ships used by the RAN, RCN and RN.
Iroquois spent her entire career based out of Maritime Atlantic Headquarters (MARLANT HQ) in Halifax, NS.
She participated in numerous NATO and Allied force exercises and operations throughout the Atlantic Theatre of Operations.
HMCS Iroquois was paid off in 2015 and sold for scrap. She left Halifax for cut-up in Liverpool NS in 2016. Her bow was preserved as a monument to all those who served in the RCN.
The bow was placed in 2021.
