Dos leones dándose la espalda lucen sentados en el balcon de la fachada principal de la Casa del Consell.
"Casa del Consell o Antiguo Ayuntamiento. Preside la plaza la antigua casa del Consell, también denominada la Sala y el antiguo Ayuntamiento, edificada en la primera mitad del siglo XVI por delante de las fortificaciones medievales. En la parte de poniente se encuentra eI antiguo Almudín, reconvertido en prisiones en el siglo siguiente. A finales del siglo XVI, se añadió a la parte este, la lonja del Mostassaf. El antiguo ayuntamiento todavía alberga dependencias municipales. Su apariencia actual es fruto de una importante reforma de 1765. A mediados del siglo XX se realizaron diversas reformas que han ocultado buena parte de su fisonomía primogenia. En agosto se instala el monumental castillo de madera, escenario de las embajadas de las fiestas de Moros y Cristianos."
