Pauline est la réplique d'un bateau construit au tout début du vingtième siècle. Sa construction, dans le cadre du concours "bateaux des côtes de France" (Brest 1992), est due à l'initiative d'une association, "une chaloupe pour Dahouët", encore propriétaire du bateau.
Le bateau qui a servi de modèle était polyvalent : bateau de pêche, travaillant au chalut et à la drague, ainsi qu'au pilotage. En effet, le port de Dahouët armait des morutiers et l'accès à ce petit port est très difficile, surtout pour des grands bateaux (Pauline, elle-même, ne peut entre ou sortir que 4 heures par marée) ; l'aide d'un pilote était donc nécessaire. Plus tard, basée à Erquy puis à Larmor-Pleubian, Pauline servi au bornage (commerce de port en port), ainsi qu'à la récolte et au transport du goémon. Pas de chance, pour un bateau-pilote, il a coulé en talonnant une roche en 1933 dans l'estuaire du Trieux.
Pauline est remarquable par son gréement, impressionnant par rapport à sa longueur : avec le bout-dehors et le gui, la longueur hors-tout est presque égale au double de la longueur de la coque. Cela rappelle les proportions des grandes bisquines. De loin, quand elle ne porte pas son hunier, elle ressemble beaucoup à Ar Jentiles, la chaloupe de Perros-Guirec : Ce type de bateau appelé flambart sur les côtes françaises de la Manche, diffère des chaloupes de Bretagne sud par son arrière à tableau alors que les chaloupes ont un arrière pointu ; et aussi par son taillevent porté par un gui. On peut aussi bien parler de lougre à 2 mâts, qu'on peut comparer aux luggers cornouaillais, que de chaloupe. Pauline est un bateau ponté et habitable pour la croisière (elle possède 7 couchettes), alors que Ar Jentiles est un bateau creux, un peu plus petit. La coque ressemble à celle de Amzer Zo, mais celui-ci est gréé en cotre. Pauline fréquente régulièrement les rassemblements de voiliers traditionnels. Pauline est un des rares bateaux auxquels une chanson a été consacrée. Créée par Hervé Guillemer pour le lancement de la chaloupe en 1992, elle est devenue un classique des chants de marins : "Ho la Pauline, c'est une chaloupe, sa carène fine est parfumée d'étoupe", etc ; trouvez les paroles ici.

Pauline is the replica of a boat built at the very beginning of the twentieth century. Its construction, within the framework of the contest "boats of the coasts of France" (Brest 1992), is due to the initiative of an association, "a boat for Dahouët", still owner of the boat.
The boat that served as a model was versatile: fishing boat, trawling and dredging, as well as piloting. Indeed, the port of Dahouët armed cod fishers and access to this small port is very difficult, especially for large boats (Pauline herself can only enter or leave for 4 hours per tide); the help of a pilot was therefore necessary. Later, based in Erquy and then in Larmor-Pleubian, Pauline served in boundary marking (trade from port to port), as well as harvesting and transporting seaweed. No luck, for a pilot boat, it sank while hitting a rock in 1933 in the Trieux estuary.
Pauline is remarkable for her rigging, impressive in relation to her length: with the bowsprit and the mistletoe, the overall length is almost twice the length of the hull. This is reminiscent of the proportions of large bisquines. From a distance, when she is not carrying her topsail, she looks a lot like Ar Jentiles, the Perros-Guirec shallop: This type of boat called flambart on the French Channel coasts, differs from the shallops of southern Brittany by its transom stern while rowboats have a pointed stern; and also by his waistcoat carried by a mistletoe. We can just as well speak of a 2-masted lugger, which can be compared to the Cornish luggers, as of a rowboat. Pauline is a decked and habitable boat for cruising (she has 7 berths), while Ar Jentiles is a hollow boat, a little smaller. The hull resembles that of Amzer Zo, but this one is rigged as a cutter.
