"Data de 1604 y fue fundada por D. Alonso de Contreras para los frailes Mínimos de la Victoria que lo ocuparon hasta la exclaustración en el primer tercio del siglo XIX. Lo más destacable es su portada original, fechada en 1610, de estilo manierista en piedra gris atribuida al tracista Pedro Cano y la primitiva puerta de acceso al convento.
En pleno centro histórico de Motril se encuentra la Iglesia de la Victoria. Este templo, cuyos cimientos fueron levantados a finales del siglo XVI, es lo único que queda del antiguo monasterio de los Frailes Mínimos de la Victoria.
En 1578 se fundó en Motril la orden religiosa de los Mínimos de San Francisco de Paula gracias, en gran medida, al patronazgo del regidor Alonso de Contreras y de su esposa Ana Gutiérrez.
Esta Iglesia del Siglo XVII, está construida junto a un convento, el de la Orden de los Minimos que fue incendiado durante la guerra civil española y no reconstruido, siendo lo único que queda del Convento una puerta ciega sobre el muro de la fachada oeste, que ha sido reconstruida con piedra gris de la cantera motrileña del Cerro del Toro, y ha sido rematada con el escudo de la orden Mínima de la Victoria. El retablo de la Iglesia, fué remodelado por los frailes agustinos. Durante la ocupación de Motril, el convento fue convertido en un cuartel militar.La portada de la Iglesia es de estilo manierista y tiene una hornacina con la Imagen del Buen Pastor.
En el interior además de una bonita Imagen del Cristo de la Salud (donada a la Iglesia por una devota) está también el lugar de enterramiento de los patrones fundadores".
