A ground-based automatic weather station is fixed just beside the Black Lake Walking Trail at the Lake Miona Recreation Center in The Villages, Florida. It can be approached along the path's loop near its the southern end -- approximately 200 feet north-northwest of the parking lot. The instrument array, including an anemometer, wind gauge, thermometer, and hygrometer, are mounted on a single, white mast with a cross arm that stands about 10 feet (3 meters) above grade. A lighting rod tops the post. A rain gauge is attached to a second, shorter pole about two feet to the northwest.
