[FR] En 1829 sont entamés les travaux de construction du nouvel Hôtel de Ville à l'emplacement de l'ancien Hôtel de Guernisac. Les plans sont dus à l'architecte Lemarié. La façade évoque un palais italien. A la suite du legs de la collection de tableaux du comte de Silguy à la ville en 1864, l'architecte Joseph Bigot entreprend la construction du musée des Beaux-Arts. Inauguré en 1872, le bâtiment abrite une collection de peintures anciennes. L'agrandissement et la rénovation entrepris en 1993 ont mis en valeur, par une architecture fonctionnelle, l'ensemble des collections et notamment la peinture bretonne du XIXe siècle, l'école de Pont-Aven et le décor réalisé par le peintre Jean-Julien Lemordant, au début du XXe siècle, pour l'hôtel de l'Epée à Quimper.

[EN] In 1829, work began on a new town hall on the site of the former Hôtel de Guernisac. The plans were drawn up by the architect Lemarié. The façade is reminiscent of an Italian palace. Following the bequest of Count de Silguy's collection of paintings to the city in 1864, architect Joseph Bigot undertakes the construction of the Musée des Beaux-Arts. Inaugurated in 1872, the building houses a collection of early paintings. The extension and renovation work undertaken in 1993 have enhanced the functional architecture of the entire collection, with particular emphasis on 19th-century Breton painting, the Pont-Aven school and the decor created by painter Jean-Julien Lemordant in the early 20th century for the Hôtel de l'Epée in Quimper.
