SCULPTURE
"Like four other Botero sculptures found in Spain, it came with the 21 pieces that were part of the “Botero in Madrid” exhibition that was held in the spring of 1994 in the Spanish capital. These five works stayed in this country for various reasons. The Woman with a Mirror , which is in the Plaza de Colón in Madrid, was given as a gift to the city by the Colombian sculptor as promised when he saw the great reception that his "gordas" had during the three months during which the exposure. The hand was bought by Telefónica and ceded to the city for 10 years to exhibit it where it currently remains, in thePaseo de la Castellana at the height of Nuevos Ministerios ; and the remaining three, Rapto de Europa , Caballo and Mujer Recostada, were acquired by the AENA company and are located at the Barajas airport in Madrid and at the Son Sant Joan airport in Palma de Mallorca.
It symbolizes when Europa rides the bull (which is none other than Zeus turned into an animal in order to get closer to the woman) just before running into the sea and swimming to Crete ."

JUPITER'S MOON
"Europa is the smallest of the four Galilean moons orbiting Jupiter, and the sixth-closest to the planet of all the 95 known moons of Jupiter. It is also the sixth-largest moon in the Solar System. Europa was discovered independently by Simon Marius and Galileo Galilei and was named (by Marius) after Europa, the Phoenician mother of King Minos of Crete and lover of Zeus (the Greek equivalent of the Roman god Jupiter)."
