Occupying 140 acres, Forestvale Cemetery remains in use today. Designed by Vermont native Harry Vespasian Wheeler, a civil engineer, the cemetery was envisioned as a "Rural Cemetery", a style coming into vogue in the nineteenth century.
Forestvale Cemetery
Founded in 1890 as the Helena Cemetery, Forestvale Cemetery occupies 150 acres (according to current tax records) in the Helena Valley. The name was changed to Forestvale in 1901.
There are over 15,943 individuals buried at Forestvale, including many notable Montana pioneers. It is also the final resting place of motion picture star Myrna (Williams) Loy, a Helena native.

Within the cemetery are several tall obelisks one of which is the family name Holter. This obelisk is most impressive and could be the tallest in the cemetery.
Though the Holter obelisk is not inscribed this is a family plot with several small headstones of the Holter family, Some of which are listed
