"Lonesome" Cabin

Built on the banks of Beaverdam Creek c. 1819-1820, "Lonesome" is a pioneer log cabin thought to be one of the oldest residences in Dickson County. It was built for William Austin (1790-1876), a veteran of the War of 1812, and his wife Dicy Horner Austin (1800-1884). Their pioneer families migrated to Dickson County from North Carolina by 1808. One room of the two-room "dog-trot" cabin was demolished after the Civil War. This site includes the Austin family cemetery.
