The Niles Dam and Fish Ladder is on the St. Joseph River, about 42 miles upriver of Lake Michigan. This fish ladder, which was completed in 1991, is very deep; fish pass through the ladder and exit into the river just above the dam. There is a viewing window at the ladder to allow video monitoring and recording of activity. However, this is an electricity-producing dam as well and there is no public access to the dam or the fish ladder. The dam can be viewed from the park to the east.
