Unusual Victorian embossed box embedded in a dyke in the Aberdeenshire hamlet of Cookney in north-eastern Scotland.

This Victorian embossed box can be found on the south side of a minor road in the hilltop hamlet of Cookney, seven miles south-west of the city of Aberdeen, and three miles inland from the North Sea coast.

The box is embedded in a stone dyke and has an unusual semi-circular top, with an intertwined VR towards the bottom. The box is in a dilapidated state, but still in use.

Tell us about the area the post box is situated.:
Cookney lies on a hill in this rural area, and had a parish church, now a private business, on the summit east of the post box. There are a few houses, mostly well scattered over the hill.
