The City Tower, with its height of nearly 54 meters, is one of the landmarks of the historic center. It is adorned with a rich vaulted ceiling from the turn of the 15th and 16th centuries at the entrance. It was completed after the city's fire in 1525 and was last rebuilt in the late Gothic style at the end of the 19th century. It is accessible during the summer season and houses a permanent exhibition showcasing the historical development of Chomutov.

Adjacent to the tower is the late Gothic Dean's Church of the Assumption of the Virgin Mary, which was built on the site of the original wooden church in the 14th century. Its significant late Gothic reconstruction was completed in 1516. The church was surrounded by the original city cemetery, which was relocated in 1810. The last major renovations took place from 1913 to 1915. Inside the church, you will find a Baroque altarpiece from 1723 with a late Gothic statue of the Madonna, Baroque benches, and neo-Gothic organs. The church serves the Roman Catholic Church and is accessible during regular worship services. In its immediate vicinity, there is a building housing the rectory and deanery.
