On November 6th 2014 Smithtown Library, Main Library was awarded the LEED Gold Certification.
The Smithtown Main Library underwent an expansion and comprehensive renovation led by BBS Architects, Landscape Architects and Engineers. The 28,000 square foot Smithtown branch is the central library within the Smithtown Special Library District, Long Island's largest library system, which serves 113,000 members. BBS served as the architect and interior designer as well as mechanical, plumbing, and civil engineer for the Smithtown Main Library as well as three other libraries within the district.
The GLS Performed electrical, data and audio visual services that contributed to the BBS architect's design and T.G. Nickel's Construction management achieved a LEED Gold rating.
