The original building was built in the late 1880s, long before Gooding became an incorporated town. The addition was built in 1906. It's primary purpose back then was as both a hotel and rooming house; serving railroad workers as well as travelers of the rails. Eventually it came into the possession of Frank R. Gooding, a former Governor and Senator in Idaho and for whom the town of Gooding is named.
I actually managed this hotel when it was a bed and breakfast and hostel. It is currently owned by a descendent of Frank Gooding and is now strictly a bed and breakfast hotel. Because of its popularity, it is advised to phone in reservations.
