NL Op de hoek van de Herenstraat en de Nedereindseweg in Nieuwegein is een mooi hoekpand met een mooi uithangbord. Op het bord zie je een zwaan en de letters “Cafe anno 1790”. Duidelijk zichtbaar dat het hier het voormalige Cagfe de Zwaan betreft.

In voormalig café De Zwaan in Nieuwegein komen veertien appartementen. De caféfunctie verdwijnt helemaal, bevestigt een woordvoerder van Compact Wonen Vastgoed, dat de bouw van de appartementen voor rekening neemt (artikel uit 2017).

De Zwaan, met de kenmerkende witte gevel, was lang een begrip in de oude kern van Jutphaas. Een deel van het huidige pand stamt uit 1790, maar al veel eerder zou op deze plek herberg De Witte Zwaan hebben gezeten. Het pand staat op de hoek van de Herenstraat en het Sluisje.

Fourteen apartments will be built in former café De Zwaan in Nieuwegein. The café function will disappear completely, confirms a spokesperson for Compact Wonen Vastgoed, which is responsible for the construction of the apartments (article from 2017).

De Zwaan, with its characteristic white facade, has long been a household name in the old center of Jutphaas. Part of the current building dates from 1790, but inn De Witte Zwaan would have been located on this site much earlier. The building is on the corner of Herenstraat and Sluisje.
