EN: This wayside shrine stands on a country lane in the vineyards south of Dieffenthal.

On a stone pedestal about two and a half meters high is a skull and a book.

On the front of the pedestal are several inscriptions. The top one is in a wreath ornament and is no longer legible.

Under it is written: "I am the way, the truth and the life, John 14,6.
This [...] was erected in the year [...] by Johannes [...] and his [wife] Magdalena Sieg Citizens here in Diefenthal."

Of all things, it is just the year that can no longer be read.

FR: Ce calvaire se trouve sur un chemin de terre dans les vignobles au sud de Dieffenthal.

Sur un piédestal en pierre d'environ deux mètres et demi de haut se trouvent un crâne et un livre.

Sur la face avant du socle se trouvent plusieurs inscriptions. La plus haute se trouve dans un ornement de couronne et n'est plus lisible.

En dessous, on peut lire : "Je suis le chemin, la vérité et la vie, Jn 14,6.
Ce [...] a été érigé en l'an [...] par Johannes [...] et son [épouse] Magdalena Sieg Bourgeois ici à Diefenthal".

L'année, justement, ne peut plus être lue.

DE: Dieser Bildstock steht an einem Feldweg in den Weinbergen südlich von Dieffenthal.

Auf einem rund zweieinhalb Meter hohen Steinpodest befindet sich ein Schädel und ein Buch.

Auf der Vorderseite des Sockel befinden sich mehrere Inschriften. Die oberste befindet sich einem Kranzornament und ist nicht mehr lesbar.

Darunter steht: "Ich bin der Weg, die Wahrheit und das Leben, Joh 14,6.
Dieses [...] ist errichtet worden im Jahre [...] von Johannes [...] und seiner [Ehefrau] Magdalena Sieg Burgersleute allhier in Diefenthal."

Ausgerechnet das Jahr lässt sich nicht mehr lesen.
