Ceský Krumlov State Castle and Château, the second largest castle and château complex in the Czech Republic, is one of the most important monuments in Central Europe and forms one of the city's main landmarks.
In addition to the castle interiors, which are presented to the public by two sightseeing routes, the complex offers a wide range of other historical delicacies in the form of the castle tower, a symbol of the rich history and artistic beauty of Ceský Krumlov, the Baroque castle garden from the 17th century and the Baroque theatre.
Ceský Krumlov is the second largest castle complex in the Czech Republic (after Prague Castle). It is a complex with five courtyards, 40 buildings, and a garden with a summer palace. The oldest part of this complex is Hrádek, a tower dating back to the establishment of the castle in the mid-13th century, perched on a promontory directly above the Vltava River. The ruler of Ceský Krumlov was Vilém of Rožmberk, the second most powerful man in the Kingdom of Bohemia.
The castle tower is not only the dominant feature of the castle but also the entire town. It stands 54.5 meters high and was completed to its present height in 1581. The tower houses four bells, with the oldest one, dating back to 1302, making it the oldest bell in South Bohemia.Y
