The lychgate is set within a break in the perimeter wall. It was constructed in 1914 in memory of Rev. Simon Inman. A stone plaque near the gate reads -
THIS LYCHGATE

An oak frame set upon stone and brick pillars, with a pitched slate roof.
The church was built in 1873–74 to replace a chapel dating from 1724 to 1725. It was paid for by Thomas Newby Wilson of Newby Bridge, the proprietor of the Stott Park Bobbin Mill.
