Rediscovered in 2010, this location had become an abandoned pet cemetery that was initially established in 1936 as the Happy Hunting Ground Pet Cemetery. In 2012 it was restored and renamed the Michigan War Dog Memorial. Included in the older section of the pet cemetery was a memorial to "The War Dog" which was dedicated to military dogs of World War I and II. In addition to all the family pets, as well as military and police dogs buried at the cemetery, it is now open to service, therapy, search-and- rescue and PTSD service dogs.
The Michigan War Dog Memorial is located at 25805 Milford Rd., South Lyon, MI and is open 24 hours/day.
