Rare example of the Japanese Balloon Bombs, which were set adrift over the Pacific during World War II with the expectation of making landfall and causing destruction over Western North America.
Over 9,000 of these were launched. Some 500 made landfall over western Canada and the United States. Six people were killed in the US due to these bombs.
