This unique lattice through-truss bridge was constructed by the Chicago & Erie Railroad and spans the Tippecanoe River near Monterey. While the original part of the abutments and pier date to 1882, the truss was constructed in about 1913 when the railroad expanded their rail line into a double track. The rails are now gone, and both the bridge and the thirteen-mile-long right-of-way from Monterey to North Judson is now under the control of the Hoosier Valley Railroad Museum, who plans to convert the entire stretch into a walking and cycling recreational trail.
