St. Vitus Cathedral is the largest and most significant Czech religious building. It is located in the heart of Prague Castle on the Third Courtyard. The official name of this cathedral is the Cathedral of St. Vitus, St. Wenceslas, and St. Adalbert. In addition to religious services, it has also been the site of coronations of Czech kings and queens. It houses the remains of saints, national patrons, monarchs, nobles, and archbishops. The history of St. Vitus Cathedral dates back to around the year 900. Originally, a rotunda and a Romanesque basilica stood in its place. The cathedral was built in the Gothic style by Emperor Charles IV. The work was carried out by the renowned builder Peter Parler, and after his death, his sons continued the project. However, the cathedral was only completed relatively recently in the 20th century, specifically in 1929.

Its impressive interior is home to such wonders as the beautifully decorated St Wenceslas Chapel with the tomb of St Wenceslas, the crypt where Czech kings are buried, and the Crown Chamber, where the Crown Jewels are kept.
