San Jorge es el nombre de un soldado romano ejecutado en Nicomedia a causa de su fe cristiana, por lo que se lo venera como mártir. Se cree que vivió entre 275 o 280 y el 23 de abril de 303.
En el siglo ix, aparece otra popular historia: San Jorge a caballo como vencedor de un dragón. Esta historia, que es parte de la Leyenda dorada, también es conocida como «San Jorge y el dragón», y es el probable origen de todos los cuentos de hadas sobre princesas y dragones en Occidente.
On this wall you can see a sculpture in relief that represents Saint George on the back of his horse sticking the spear into the dragon.
Saint George is the name of a Roman soldier executed in Nicomedia because of his Christian faith, which is why he is venerated as a martyr. It is believed that he lived between 275 or 280 and April 23, 303.
