Foltz School is located along Route 8, near the intersection with Weeks Road, about 5 miles south of the town of Slippery Rock, in Butler County, Pennsylvania. The school is very close to both the Jennings Environmental Education Center State Park and the Old Stone House Museum. The North Country Trail also goes right past the schoolhouse.
The school was originally opened in the 1880s and operated until 1963. The location of the school was next to a coal mine, which is no longer active. After the school was closed, the building fell into disuse and began to deteriorate. In 2018, the Moraine, McConnells Mill, and Jennings Commission (3MJC) began work on restoring the the schoolhouse. The work was completed in October 2022, and the schoolhouse is now open for tours and educational events. The restored building is set up to look as it would have in 1918, including period-era desks and a potbellied stove to heat the building.
