La leyenda dice que Jesús se le apareció en sueños al obispo S. Magnus y le dijo que la construyera aquí. Lo curioso es que la ciudad no existía en aquel entonces, la zona era sólo barro. Pero Magnus persistió y con la ayuda de otras personas construyó una iglesia que más tarde se convertiría en el corazón de Venecia.
Sin embargo, la iglesia que vemos hoy en día es diferente a la primera. Fue reconstruida del todo en el siglo XVI y desde entonces es un centro religioso para muchos creyentes.
La iglesia tiene un gran órgano, es impresionante y atrae muchas miradas. También cuenta con decoraciones de varios artistas italianos de renombre, como Sansovino y Tiziano.
Legend has it that Jesus appeared to Bishop S. Magnus in a dream and told him to build it here. The funny thing is that the city did not exist back then, the area was just mud. But Magnus persisted and with the help of others built a church that would later become the heart of Venice.
However, the church we see today is different from the first. It was completely rebuilt in the 16th century and since then it has been a religious center for many believers.
