The Congregational Church in South Glastonbury was established in 1836. The church was built in the Greek Revival style facing High Street in South Glastonbury. The front of the church has a set of steps leading up to a central entrance that is flanked by a pair of Doric piasters on each side. A clock is located in the center of the pediment above the entrance.
Rising from the gable roof is a three stage steeple. The bottom section is a square tower. The middle section is smaller square belfry with a rectangular louvered opening. The upper stage is the smallest square tower.
The sides of the church have four 20 by 12 pane widows and eight 4 by 4 pane windows at the brick foundation level. In 1965 the church was rotated to face Main Street. At that time a parish house and other additions to the back of the church were constructed.
