Jennings Environmental Education Center is located on Prospect Road, near the intersection with Route 8, about 5 miles south of Slippery Rock, Pennsylvania. According to the Center's website, "Jennings Environmental Education Center is one of several state parks specifically dedicated to providing environmental education and recreational programs to the community. A variety of programs that increase knowledge and awareness of the beauty and importance of our natural resources are available for children, teachers, and the general public." The Center is named for botanist Dr. Otto Emery Jennings.
Stamps for the Pennsylvania State Parks and State Forests Passport are available at the center. The entry for Jennings Environmental Education Center is on page 81 of the Passport, and notes that its highlight is a prairie ecosystem. The text for the Center says, "Home to one of the few remaining prairies in Pennsylvania, Jennings Environmental Education Center features hiking trails that traverse both field and forest. Spring woodland wildflowers transition to a stunning summer bloom of blazing star and other unique prairie plants. A spectacular display of fall foliage and a host of winter activities round out four seasons of outdoor adventure."
The website notes that, "Jennings Environmental Education Center is open every day of the year, sunrise to sunset. Day use areas close at dusk. The office is open from 8:00 A.M. to 4:00 P.M., Monday through Friday, and some weekends."
