Pub sign outside the Albion Hotel, Dalton Road, Barrow-in-Furness.

The sign features a rigged sailing ship in full sail. Presumably representing HMS Albion, which has been a frequently used name for a number of centuries (visit link) although Albion is also an archaic alternative name for Great Britain.

From the image it could possibly be HMS Albion, a 74-gun third-rate ship of the line of the Royal Navy. Launched at Perry's Blackwall Yard on the Thames on 17 June 1802. Broken up at Chatham Dockyard in 1836. (visit link)

The shipyard at Barrow-in-Furness was founded in 1871, and over the past 150 years it has produced some of the most significant marine vessels. It is run by BAE Systems, and in 2001 two Albion class amphibious transport docks were built; HMS Albion & HMS Bulwark.
