Primitiva pila bautismal gótica del siglo XII.

Es imposible que este templo pase inadvertido, sobre todo, si tenemos en cuenta que su torre, con sus 71 metros, es la más alta de la provincia y la segunda con más altura del país. La encontramos en el casco antiguo de la localidad, en la denominada plaza de la Vila. La ausencia de construcciones junto a ella y la inclinación del suelo enfatizan la sensación que da la torre, de ser altísima e interminable. De estilo gótico, la iglesia de Santa María fue levantada entre los s. XIV y XV, sobre los restos de una mezquita. Sucesivas reformas en el s. XVI y XVII le dieron el aspecto actual. Sobre la puerta de entrada se encuentran los restos de Llop Llopis de Vaello, uno de los personajes más importantes de Ontinyent, puesto que contribuyó en la reconquista del territorio. En el interior, una Virgen María del s. XV, una pila bautismal del s. XVII, de procedencia florentina, un retablo de José Segrelles -reemplazó al destruido en la Guerra Civil- y varias esculturas de Mariano Benlliure.

It is impossible for this temple to go unnoticed, especially if we take into account that its tower, with its 71 meters, is the highest in the province and the second highest in the country. We find it in the old part of the town, in the so-called Plaza de la Vila. The absence of buildings next to it and the inclination of the ground emphasize the sensation that the tower gives, of being very high and endless. In Gothic style, the church of Santa María was built between the s. XIV and XV, on the remains of a mosque. Successive reforms in the s. XVI and XVII gave it its current appearance. Above the entrance door are the remains of Llop Llopis de Vaello, one of the most important figures in Ontinyent, since he contributed to the reconquest of the territory. Inside, a Virgin Mary from the s. XV, a baptismal font from the s. XVII, of Florentine origin, an altarpiece by José Segrelles -it replaced the one destroyed in the Civil War- and various sculptures by Mariano Benlliure.
