"C’est sous l’influence du philosophe Ernest Renan qu’un maître d’hôtel parisien, Joseph Le Bihan, fera le pari d’installer en 1886 un premier établissement à Perros-Guirec, dans l’anse de Trestraou. L’Hôtel de la Plage accueille très vite des visiteurs de renom et le bâtiment de 20 chambres est agrandi dès 1888. En 1914, un nouvel édifice est construit en front de mer et ce palace, devenu Le Grand Hôtel, ne cessera d’évoluer jusqu’en 1955.
Propriété d’Adolphine et Jean Sifre de 1948 à 1995, l’établissement est souvent fréquenté par des célébrités et connait de belles heures de gloire à travers les époques. Le Grand Hôtel a largement contribué à la notoriété de Perros-Guirec et doit aussi son succès à la présence du casino construit tout à côté dès 1923. Les grandes stars qui s’y produisent tel, Fréhel, Edith Piaf, Sacha Distel ou Michèle Torr… sont accueillies au Grand Hôtel.

Après une vie bien remplie l’établissement phare de Trestraou ferme en 2017, fragilisé par le temps et usé par les embruns. Le groupe Kasinos de Bretagne en fait l’acquisition en 2018 et opte pour une rénovation exceptionnelle afin de redonner au Grand Hôtel sa splendeur d’antan et un charme original. Pensé autour de ses nouveaux usages, le bâtiment de 5 étages est entièrement reconstruit, seules les façades sont conservées.
15 millions d’euros sont investis et de nombreuses entreprises du territoire participent à ce chantier pendant plus de 2 ans. Les aménagements sont réalisés dans le respect du bâtiment historique. Une attention particulière est portée aux choix des matériaux, dans les moindres détails. Le style contemporain et l’esprit art déco se font écho avec cohérence. Dans une ambiance qui se veut « années folles », jusque dans les tenues des équipes, la modernité est au rendez-vous.
Si ce projet redonne ses lettres de noblesse au Grand Hôtel, il vient aussi écrire la nouvelle histoire de l’établissement en y intégrant le Kasino de Perros-Guirec et de nouveaux services, restaurant, bar, rooftop, Spa, salles de séminaire et boutique.
