I recommend starting your hike to this marker from the large parking area to the south of US 16 at the summit of Powder River Pass. The easiest route is to hike north from the parking area across alpine grasses and scattered talus along the west side of an unnamed peak (Point 10215 on USGS maps). Follow the break between the talus and forested countryside on the north flank of Point 10215. The marker is surrounded by wooded area; it is a 1936 GLO brass cap set on a leaning steel pipe that is at the center of a rock pile.
Type of survey mark: Brass cap on steel pipe
