Old Hillside Cemetery stands in what is today Kin Coolee Park in Medicine Hat. It is composed of two cemeteries, St. Barnabus Chirch Cemetery (1884-1923) and Roman Catholic Cemetery (1889-1919).
This cairn marks the history of this 19th-century graveyard with a plaque that reads as follows:
:This cemetery was first used by the St. Barnabas Church of England in 1884. The first determinant was Colin McKay on March 1 of that year.
1884-1923

The Roman Catholic Cemetery was added in 1889. In the first interment was Mary Elizabeth Walton on January 16 of that year.
1889-1919
During the period of use there were 312 burials in the Anglican section and 283 burials in the Roman Catholic section. Summary interments later occurred to Hillside Cemetery leaving a total of 394 known burials still resting at this location.
