Opened in August 2018, construction was delayed when a sharp-eyed construction worker noticed fossils during excavation. The City and Contractor agreed to modify the construction plans to allow Denver's Museum of Nature and Science excavate the fossils. First thought to be a Triceratops, later study discovered the skeletons to be the much rarer Torosaurus. Some of the fossils are on display in the Police Substation entrance. See (visit link) .

The building houses both the Fire Station and a Thornton Police Substation. See (visit link) . The plaque is located in the Police Substation entrance (along with the fossils!).

The architect was Roth Sheppard (see (visit link) ).
