"The Anchor Passage takes its name from the 4-pronged iron grapnel anchor hanging from one of the arches in the alley. This anchor symbolized certain feudal rights granted to the archbishops on the tide: port entry taxes, tithe on fish caught from the mouth of the Aude to Cape Leucate."
