The metal flagpole would at least 5 metres tall outside the Firehouse for the volunteer fire fighters of the Summerland Point area. Kanangra Drive is the ONLY road in and out of this headland on the SE of Lake Macquarie, so the fire fighters have to be very diligent to maintain safe access for the community. No flags on the pole at my visit.
About a metre off the ground is a brushed stainless steel plaque pop-riveted to the pole, stating that it was donated by the Lions Clubs of Gwandalan Inc., on 18th December 2002, by Neville Latta, President.
