Dr. Mitchell and his wife, Allie, are buried side by side. Her headstone bears the emblem of the Woodmen Circle, and while his is missing its base (which could include a Woodmen of the World emblem), it's likely that the tree trunk was selected to match the Woodmen theme: Note the missing tools from the top of the trunk, which are most commonly found in that position. Other than that, the monument resembles something from the Woodmen of the World, with the dove of peace perched on an inscription scroll hanging from a sawn-off branch. The scroll reads:
