EN: "The San Rafael Cemetery is one of the most significant cemeteries on the continent, being included in the European Route of Cemeteries, a Cultural Route of the Council of Europe of which 116 cemeteries from 20 European countries are part and which aim to show these spaces as large open-air museums.

The greatest singularity of this small cemetery lies in the fact that it houses in the subsoil the monumental complex of the Roman Cisterns, a hydraulic construction from the end of the 1st century AD, being the largest preserved in Spain.

The cemetery, located next to the parish of San Mateo, occupies what would be the forum square of the existing Roman city in Monturque. It responds to popular architecture, with whitewashed niches around a central patio.

In the month of November, coinciding with the festivity of All Saints, the celebration of the Mundamortis conferences takes place in Monturque, the only ones held in Spain dedicated to death, tourism and cemeteries, with Monturque being a pioneer in the development of the so-called necrotourism or cemetery tourism."
