U.S. Route 66. over its lifetime, facilitated the travel of generations of Americans as they toured the country. But not all the travelers could afford a private car. For them, Greyhound Lines provided a reliable form of transportation to even the smallest of communities. The town of Hackberry lies about two miles south of the highway so the general store acted as the bus stop. This sign hangs in front of the general store next to the highway. It is badly faded but one can still make out the bus and the words Greyhound Lines.
