Tucked away on quiet Bennet Ave, this shop has been repairing and selling bikes for over 40 years.
Originally bike mechanic in the Dominican Republic, Eduardo “Kimbo” Fernandez took the helm of this shop in 1998 when he bought it from its namesake. And though that name isn’t his, the rest of the store is, as he runs the one-man operation like his own garage.
Inside there is a diversified phalanx of bikes that hang overhead, everything from Mongoose BMXs for youngsters to racing and mountain bikes for commuters. The next-day cleaning and tune-up is a perfect prep for a ride across nearby George Washington Bridge — a popular route that connects local riders with scenic Jersey bike paths.
When heading out the door for a test-spin, keep an eye out for photos of a sister store, which Fernandez has since launched in his native Santiago.
