"ASHFORK, 0.3 m. (5,144 alt., 894 pop.), is a stock-raising center (information here concerning trip to Cathedral Cave} and has developed considerable business in quarrying a tinted sandstone, found about ten miles away. This stone was used in many of the town s buildings and a large amount has been shipped to California." (visit link)

Ash Fork is located on the Santa Fe Railway line and U.S. Route 66. Until the demise of passenger trains and the development of the Interstate Highway System Ash Fork was an important stop for travelers with a multitude of gas stations and motels. It is now a very quiet community.
