This historical marker is on the leftmost panel of three panels at outdoor information kiosk located along the Saskatchewan state Highway 13 at Riverside Boulevard in Eastend.
The marker reads as follows:
"THE TOWN OF EASTEND
The earliest settlers of the district were one of the bands of Metis that migrated west after the Red River Rebellion. It then became one of the first North-West Mounted Police Detachments established east of Fort Walsh, and was the heart of the cattle range for many years."
