Turn off of Anderson Mill Road onto the paved road entrance to Unit Church of the Hills and continue on to the main church buildings. Turn left (Eastward) and cross the parking lot to the far end. Walk around the east end of the church and head south toward a small cluster of trees. The nicely decorated entrance to the labyrinth will be visible once you walk past the end of the building.
The entrance to the labyrinth has been carefully and artistically design. There is a circular metal framed archway (to complement the giant arch at the entrance to the property) with a sidewalk passing through it which leads to the entrance of the labyrinth. The area around the labyrinth is nicely shaded by the big oak tree growing in the center circle of the labyrinth's path. Landscaping has been placed around the labyrinth's arched entrance that are kept manicured and complementary to the peaceful setting appropriate for a labyrinth.
The labyrinth itself is about 62 feet in diameter and made with dark black gravel edged with bright white rectangular stone bricks. Visually this is very stunning in the dappled shade of the trees nearby. The formal pathway follow the classic winding and bending through the four quarters of the circular journey to the center. The tree in the middle of the center is an unusual feature but not unique. There are two large bolder stones on opposite outer edges of the center circle. One of these bolder had many small flat palm-sized stones with colorful decorations painted on them.
The pathway to the labyrinth's center is designed to complement the concept that walking a labyrinth allows you to meditate and release your tensions and worries on the way in. At the center, you can leave those frustrations there and can return on the same path back with a more relaxed attitude of hope and contentment. This is particularly true with this labyrinth. Everything about its design and placement allows for a peaceful and meditative mood.
