In 1974, Coca Cola placed a large advertising sign at the top end of William Street. It is visible from a long way away. It also have become an iconic site in Sydney which has been there for almost a half century.
Because of its visibility there is a famous saying, "I will meet you under the Coca Cola sigh" when people were visiting Kings Cross.
Over the years, the location of the sign has not changed but it has been refurbished several times. The latest version uses LCD technology to minimise electricity use.
William Street is one of the main roads to the Eastern Suburbs of Sydney so the sign is viewed by many thousands of people each day of their journey.
