"The myth of Actaeon has as protagonists Actaon himself and the goddess Artemis , consecrated to chastity since she saw her mother give birth in terrible suffering.

Actaeon, son of Aristeo and Autonoe, was a great hunter. He had been instructed in this art by the centaur Chiron himself, in charge of training great heroes like Achilles. Actaeon enjoyed hunting more than any other activity, so he enjoyed long trips and escapades loaded with his weapons in order to search for prey.

One day, the goddess Artemis was enjoying a bath completely naked. Walking through the forest, Actaeon came to the place where the beautiful goddess enjoyed the gratifying bath, and before such beauty he was completely fascinated. He couldn't look away from Artemis, something that she would take as a great offense and violation of her divine privacy.

Very angry, Artemis decided to punish the voyeur by turning him into a deer. Not content with that, the goddess enraged by the desecration of her virginal mysteries, she decided to send Aceton's own dogs, fifty, to kill him.

The tragic end would come to Acteon at the hands of his animals, since they would cruelly devour him, tearing his body to pieces. Once they ended his life, they desperately searched for his master throughout the forest, but they never found him. They were done with him.

Completely disoriented, the fifty hounds would search for the centaur Chiron , who, with the sole purpose of comforting the poor animals, would build a statue of the deceased Actaeon.

There are other versions of this myth. For example, Ovid, in his metamorphoses, recounted that the goddess was not the only one who bathed in the forest. She would be accompanied by her entourage of nymphs From her.

A last version of Actaeon's death tells that he boasted of being a better hunter than the goddess Artemis. This would ultimately be what would end up angering the goddess, and not the desecration of her nudity."
