In 1943, the existing Glennan General Hospital was designated German Prisoner of War General Hospital No. 1. The Hospital was opened for patients on December 17, 1943, and discharged its last patient on December 2, 1945. This was one of only two such hospitals in the USA during WWII; the other was Camp Forest in Tullahoma, Tennessee. German P.O.W.s that required minor medical care were sent to one of the many "Station" Hospitals; those requiring more specialized treatment were kept at one of the two General Hospitals. In addition, any P.O.W.s eligible for repatriation or for certification as “protected personnel” were held in special facilities at these hospitals.

Today the site is occupied by a branch campus of Oklahoma State University. The only remaining structure from the P.O.W. camp is the Physical Plant tower, which was a guard tower at the north edge of the complex.
